About Maze Tower

Maze Tower is a maze platformer built around a treasure map. Two adventurers follow it through 16 labyrinths full of traps and monsters, collecting the precious stones kept in the towers. It is listed as a puzzle game, but getting through each labyrinth also takes the double jump and wall jump that both characters have, and the developer says plainly that the levels need those skills.

There are three ways to play. You can take on the labyrinths alone in single player mode, team up with a friend in the two player adventure mode, or switch to the two player racing mode, where the same movement becomes a contest against your friend. Each player has their own move, punch and run keys on one keyboard.

How to play

Player 1 moves with W A S D, punches with F and runs with R. Player 2 moves with the arrow keys, punches with L and runs with P. Trying a move for the first time next to a trap or a monster is a poor way to learn it. A few deliberate attempts early make the rest of the 16 labyrinths far less frustrating.

The goal is the stones. The story is simple: two adventurers have a treasure map leading to treasure protected by traps, and the precious stones in the towers are guarded by monsters. Your job in each labyrinth is to collect them. Read the layout before you move so you know where the danger is, and use the run key when you need to cover ground quickly.

Pick the mode that fits. Single player lets you work through the labyrinths at your own pace. The two player adventure mode puts both adventurers on one keyboard, each with their own keys, working toward the same stones. Two player racing turns the same movement skills into a competition, where you and a friend struggle against each other instead of helping.

Share the keyboard sensibly. Player 1 sits on the left with W A S D, F and R, while Player 2 takes the arrow keys with L and P on the right. Settle who plays which side before you start so neither player is hunting for the punch key when a monster appears.
