Basket Random is the legendary one-button basketball duel: score baskets using a single key while the game keeps changing the rules of the court. Fields change, players change and balls change, so nobody stays comfortable for long, which is precisely the comedy.

It's one of the best-loved same-keyboard games for a reason: rounds last seconds, skill helps just enough to argue about, and the randomness keeps every rematch alive. Play against a friend or against the CPU.

How to play

One button each — Player 1 on W, Player 2 on the Up arrow (or play solo vs CPU). That single key is your whole control, so timing is everything: press it to go for the ball and again to try for a basket. The first side to reach 5 points wins the game.

Basket Random strategy guide

One button, and the whole game is when you press it. Basket Random gives player one W and player two the Up arrow. That key is the only control you have, so a press is a commitment: once your players are moving you cannot change your mind. Mashing produces a team that is permanently airborne and permanently useless. One deliberate press per opportunity is the entire technique.

Go for the ball, not the hoop. Points come from getting the ball into the basket, but you cannot do that until you have it. Your job is to be in the right spot when the ball comes down rather than to aim at the hoop from anywhere. Players who chase the hoop miss; players who read where the ball is going score.

The court keeps changing, so stop planning past the next point. Fields, players and balls change as the game goes on. A timing that worked perfectly on the last field, with the last ball, may be wrong on this one. Take a beat at the start of each round to see what changed — most conceded points come from playing the previous round's game.

Defense is cheap and underused. Standing between your opponent and your hoop when the ball is on your half costs nothing and denies a surprising number of easy points. Because scoring is partly random, denying a shot is worth as much as making one, and it is far more reliable.

Leads are never safe, so keep playing the same way. The game ends when one side reaches 5, and the randomness that gave you a two-point lead can take it back just as quickly. The most common way players lose from ahead is by getting greedy and abandoning the patient one-press rhythm that built the lead. Play the same game at 4-2 as you did at 0-0.
