Mahjong Tiles Match is the classic tile-matching layout puzzle: pair up identical tiles to remove them, and keep going until the board is empty. What looks like a memory test is really a planning one — removing the wrong pair first can bury the tile you needed underneath.

Each level rearranges the stack into a new shape, so the difficulty comes from the geometry rather than from a timer breathing down your neck. It is calm, quiet and endlessly resumable, which makes it a good default for a shared laptop.

How to play

Click one tile, then click its identical twin to clear the pair. Only tiles that are free — not covered, and open on a side — can be selected. Scan the whole board before your first move and clear from the top of the stack downward so you never trap a pair you still need.

Only free tiles can be taken, and that is the whole puzzle. A tile is selectable when nothing is stacked on top of it and at least one of its left or right sides is open. Everything else on the board is scenery until you have cleared what is holding it down. Beginners lose by looking for matching pictures; experienced players look first for which tiles are currently free and only then for pairs among them.

Scan the whole board before your first click. The opening position is the only moment you can see every option at once, and the pairs you take in the first minute determine whether the endgame has moves left. Take a slow look across the entire layout and note where identical tiles appear four times — those are safe, because taking any two still leaves a pair.

Clear from the top down. Tiles sitting on upper layers are the ones blocking everything beneath them, so removing them opens the most new options per move. Working along the flat edges because the matches are easy to spot feels productive and quietly strangles the board — it strips away the free tiles while leaving the stack intact.

The dangerous move is the one with an identical twin elsewhere. When you can see three or four copies of the same tile, think about which two you take. Removing the two that are easy now can leave the remaining pair stacked on top of each other, and a pair stacked vertically can never be matched. Prefer the copies that are not blocking anything.

If you run out of moves, it happened several turns ago. A dead board is almost never caused by the last click; it is caused by a convenient match taken ten moves earlier. That is why the habit of asking what a match opens up matters more than speed. There is no clock pressing you here, and thinking for three seconds costs nothing.
