Read before you click. At the start of each puzzle, take a few seconds to look over the letters before you try anything. Spotting one word you are sure about gives you a foothold, and it is easier to build from a certain word than to guess at many uncertain ones.

Use word endings. English words often end in a small set of patterns: -ing, -ed, -er, -est, -ly. If you can see one of those endings among your letters, try building words backwards from it. It is a quick way to turn a jumble into a list of real candidates.

Start from the rare letters. Letters like J, K, V, X and Z appear in far fewer words than vowels or common consonants. When one shows up, ask which words could possibly contain it. That shrinks the search much faster than scanning everything at once.

Change your angle when stuck. Staring at the same letters for a long time makes them stop meaning anything. Look away briefly, say the letters to yourself in a different order, or try a different starting letter. A new approach usually shakes the missing word loose.
