Soccer Duel compresses a football match into a tabletop arcade board: a small pitch and fast 1v1 matches where reaction, strategy and accurate shooting decide things long before any build-up play does. You pick one of 32 national teams and lead it through quick matches suited to short sessions.

It is also one of the more flexible football games on the site: play the AI, share one device with a friend, take on real opponents online, run a tournament or settle it with a penalty shootout. Table Football and Soccer Random are the other quick-play options.

How to play

Use the mouse on a computer, or tap with your finger on a phone or tablet, to control your characters on the field. Choose one of 32 national teams and a mode: single player against the AI, two players on the same device, real-time online matches, a tournament, or a penalty shootout. Be in position before the ball arrives and shoot accurately.

Tips to win

• Hold a defensive shape rather than chasing. The pitch is small enough that the ball comes back to you.
• Strike as the ball arrives, not after it settles — the extra half-second is usually the difference.
• Short matches mean an early goal is worth a lot. Take the first chance rather than working a better one.

Soccer Duel strategy guide

Be in position before the ball arrives. Soccer Duel is a fast 1v1 tabletop match, and the ball rarely sits still. You control your characters with the mouse, or by tapping on a phone or tablet. Players who chase the ball are always a step late; players who move to where it is going get the first touch. Keep your eyes a little ahead of the play.

Shoot accurately rather than hard. Accurate shooting is one of the things that decides matches here. A shot aimed at the space the goalkeeper is not covering beats a hurried blast straight at them. When you get a clear look, take a breath and pick your spot rather than hitting the first thing you see.

Keep a defensive shape. The pitch is compact, so the ball comes back toward your goal quickly. Rather than throwing everyone forward, keep yourself between the ball and your own goal when you lose possession. Many goals conceded in short matches come from being caught upfield after a missed chance.

Choose the mode that fits your session. You can play against the AI, with a second player on the same device, in real-time online matches, in a tournament, or in a penalty shootout. The AI is the easiest place to learn how the characters respond to your input. Tournament mode strings matches together, and the penalty shootout is a quick way to practise finishing.

Pick a country and learn its rhythm. There are 32 national teams to choose from. Stick with one for a while so you get a feel for the flow of a match, then branch out. Matches are quick, which makes them ideal for short sessions, but that also means an early goal counts for a lot, so do not waste the first clear chance.
