Slither Dragon.io takes the arena-slither formula and swaps the worm for a dragon, which is a bigger change than it sounds — a long dragon reads clearly against the arena floor, so you can see exactly how much room your own tail is taking up when things get crowded.

The rules are unforgiving in the way this genre should be: you eat the multicoloured eggs other players leave behind to grow, and if your dragon runs into the body of an enemy, it dies. Length is the only score, so every decision comes down to whether the eggs in front of you are worth the space you would have to give up to reach them.

How to play

Steer by holding your pointer where you want the dragon to go — it follows continuously, so there is nothing to press. Eat the multicoloured eggs scattered around the arena and the ones dropped by defeated players to grow longer. Never let your dragon touch the body of another dragon; head-on contact is what ends a run.

Tips to win

• Eat the eggs left by a big kill from the outside in — diving into the middle of a pile is how you get boxed in.
• The longer you are, the wider your turns need to be. Give yourself a lane before you commit.
• Circling a smaller dragon forces it into your body; you never have to make contact yourself.
