Tank War Two Player is a 2D arena duel between an orange tank and a blue one, built for two people at the same keyboard. Each tank drives and fires on its own key set, and the rule is as simple as it gets: whoever is destroyed first loses, so the other player takes the win.

The mechanics are simple enough to explain in one sentence, which is exactly what the same-screen format needs — the depth comes from reading the person next to you. TankBattle 2 Player is another duel option, and Tanks of Liberty is the single-player one.

How to play

The orange tank drives with A, W, S and D and fires with E. The blue tank drives with the arrow keys and fires with the 0 key. Both players share one keyboard. Keep moving, aim where the other tank is heading, and defeat it before it defeats you.

Tips to win

• Never sit still. A stationary tank is the easiest target on the screen.

This is a pure head-to-head duel. Tank War Two Player puts two tanks on the same screen, one orange and one blue, each driven by a different person at the same keyboard. There is no computer opponent to learn and no campaign to work through; the rules are simply that whoever is defeated first loses. Everything you learn is about reading the person sitting next to you.

Learn your keys before the first round. The orange tank drives with A, W, S and D and fires with E. The blue tank drives with the arrow keys and fires with 0. Because both players share one keyboard, sit so your hands are comfortable and neither of you is reaching across the other. Spend a few seconds driving around before you start shooting so the movement feels natural.

Keep moving and make yourself hard to hit. A tank that stops is the easiest target in the game. Keep your tank rolling, change direction often, and avoid driving in a straight line toward your opponent, which gives them the simplest possible shot. Circling and angling in from the side makes their aim work harder while you line up your own.

Shoot with purpose, not constantly. Holding down fire and hoping rarely works against a human who is also dodging. Watch where the other tank is heading and aim at where it will be, not where it is now. A few well-timed shots are worth more than a spray that leaves you predictable. If you miss, reposition before trying again rather than sitting in the same spot.

Rematches are where you get better. Rounds are short, so the best way to improve is to play several in a row and notice patterns. Does your friend always turn the same way when pressured? Do they fire the moment you come into line? Exploit those habits, and expect them to adapt to yours. Swap colours now and then.
