Tanks of Liberty is a top-down armoured shooter inspired by the classic Battle City - you drive a tank around a walled battlefield, destroy enemy armour, and above all protect your Eagle base, because if it falls the mission is over. The retro look hides real tactical depth: shells travel and walls block, so where you park matters as much as where you aim. Maps are procedurally generated, and points earned in battle buy permanent upgrades such as speed and bullet velocity.

The reason to bookmark it is the local co-op: a second player can join on the arrow keys and fight alongside you on the same keyboard. Two tanks covering different lanes is a genuinely different game from playing it solo.

How to play

Player one drives with W, A, S and D and fires the cannon with Space. For local co-op, player two drives with the arrow keys and fires with Enter. Destroy enemy tanks while protecting your Eagle base - if the base falls, the mission is over. Spend points earned in battle on permanent upgrades.

Tips to win

In Tanks of Liberty, defending your Eagle base matters more than your kill count. The game is a top-down tank shooter inspired by the classic Battle City, and if your Eagle base falls, the mission is over. That changes how you should play: hunting enemies far from home is risky if it leaves the base exposed. Always know where the base is and which routes lead to it.

Learn each map fresh, because no two missions are the same. Maps are procedurally generated, and environments range from urban ruins to dense forests. Spend the first moments of a mission looking at the layout around your base and the lanes the enemy can use. A quick read of the map is worth more than rushing forward.

Position is as important as aim. Shells travel across the battlefield and walls block them, so where you park your tank decides what you can hit and what can hit you. A common mistake is sitting in the open trading shots. Use cover to control line of sight and make enemies come into your firing lane.
