About Tanks of Liberty
Tanks of Liberty is a top-down armoured shooter in the old arcade tradition — you drive a tank around a walled battlefield, shoot the enemy armour before it shoots you, and use the scenery as both cover and an obstacle. The retro look hides a surprising amount of tactical depth, because shells travel and walls block, so where you park matters as much as where you aim.
The reason to bookmark it is the local co-op: a second player can drop in on the arrow keys and fight alongside you on the same keyboard. Two tanks covering different lanes is a genuinely different game from playing it solo.
How to play
Player one drives with W, A, S and D and fires the cannon with Space. For local co-op, player two drives with the arrow keys and fires with Enter. Destroy the enemy armour while protecting your own position — use walls to break line of sight and force the enemy to come to you.
Controls
- Player 1 — W A S D drive, Space fire
- Player 2 — Arrow keys drive, Enter fire
- Local co-op on one keyboard
Tips to win
- Shoot the wall an enemy is hiding behind — opening a new firing line beats waiting for them to move.
- In co-op, split lanes instead of both chasing the same tank; crossfire clears the map far faster.
- Reverse out of trouble rather than turning around — turning exposes your flank.
