About Penalty Challenge Multiplayer

Penalty Challenge Multiplayer runs the shootout in both directions. You pick one of 32 teams, take five attempts to beat the goalkeeper, and then switch to keeping, moving the gloves to stop five kicks coming back at you. Having to do both halves is what makes it hold up longer than a shooting-only penalty game.

There are three ways to play: online multiplayer, against the computer, or against a friend on the same device. Penalty Kick Target and Free Kick Challenge cover the pure shooting side.

How to play

Swipe with your finger, or drag with the mouse, to kick a penalty. When you are keeping, move the mouse or your finger to shift the gloves across the goal. Choose one of the 32 teams, then play online, against the computer, or against a friend on the same device. You get five kicks to take and five to save.

Tips to win

Vary your placement. The keeper reads a repeated corner quickly across five kicks.
When keeping, commit late. Moving early is exactly what the shooter is waiting for.
Power is not the answer — a placed side-foot into the corner beats a hard shot down the middle.

Every match is two jobs: shooting and saving. You get five attempts to beat the goalkeeper, then five chances to stop your opponent's kicks. Both halves count, so a great shooter who cannot keep will still lose. Treat the keeping half with the same focus as the shooting half rather than as a break between kicks.

Swipe with intent when you shoot. You kick by swiping with your finger, or dragging with the mouse on a computer. Decide where the ball is going before you start the motion, then make one clean swipe. Hesitant, wobbly swipes tend to send the ball somewhere you did not mean. Try a few practice kicks against the computer to see how your swipe translates into the shot.

Vary your placement across the five kicks. If you put every penalty in the same area, the keeper has an easier job each time. Mix sides and heights so there is no pattern to read. Placement usually matters more than raw power; a well-placed shot away from the gloves is harder to stop than a hard one straight at them.

Move the gloves late and with purpose. When keeping, you move the gloves with the mouse or your finger. Guessing early leaves the other side of the goal open. Watch the kick and react, and try to cover the areas your opponent has favoured in earlier attempts. Against a human, notice their habits across the rounds.

Pick your team and your mode. You choose your favourite from 32 teams, then play one of three modes: online multiplayer, against the computer, or against a friend on the same device. The computer is the relaxed place to learn the swipe; a friend on the same screen or an online opponent adds the pressure that makes a shootout fun.
