Ducklings.io is the gentlest game in this category and one of the few io games that is not really about killing anyone. You are a duck. Ducklings are scattered across the pond, they follow you once collected, and you tow the whole line home to your nest. Boats churn through the water on fixed routes and will scatter your convoy if you get clipped.

The upgrade loop gives it a point beyond wandering — every duckling you bring back improves the nest. It works well as something to leave open in a browser tab, and it needs no sound at all.

How to play

Swim with the mouse or the arrow keys. Collect ducklings by swimming into them; they trail behind you in a line. Steer that line clear of the boats, then bring them back to your nest to bank them and upgrade it.

Tips to win

• A long trail turns slowly. Start your dodge earlier than feels necessary.
• Bank a small group rather than risking a big one near a boat lane.
