CueSoccer blends two games that have no business fitting together and makes them work. You line up shots the way you would on a pool table — angle, power, the geometry of a rebound — but the rules on the board are football's. Matches are slower and more deliberate than any arcade football game, and they hinge on whether you can see the angle two shots ahead.

It rewards a completely different skill from the reflex games in this category. If you like Foosball for the table geometry rather than the speed, this is that instinct given a whole game.

How to play

Aim with the mouse and click to take your shot. Line up angles the way you would in billiards — off the walls, off other pieces — and use them to work the ball toward the goal. Control your power carefully; the intense part of the match is the positioning you leave behind after each shot.

Tips to win

• Think about where the ball stops, not just whether it goes in. Bad position loses the next shot.
• Rebounds off the walls open angles that look impossible from a straight line.
• Low power with a good angle beats high power with a bad one almost every time.
