Basketball.io strategy guide
Chase at an angle, never from behind. The most common mistake in Basketball.io is running directly at the back of the ball-carrier, which means matching their speed and never catching them. Cutting toward where they are going rather than where they are puts you in their path, and a steal happens on contact. This one adjustment turns a frustrating game into a productive one.
Score immediately after a steal. Possession in this game is measured in seconds, because everyone on the court is heading toward whoever has the ball. The moment you strip it, you have a short window in which the defenders are still turning around. Drive at the rim then rather than looking for a better position — the better position will not exist by the time you reach it.
Finish close. Long attempts in traffic are how possession changes hands without anyone scoring. Taking the ball all the way in is worth the extra second of exposure, because a close finish converts and a hopeful long shot mostly hands the ball to the other team in a worse position than you started.
Weave rather than sprint when you have the ball. Running in a straight line with possession makes you trivially easy to intercept, because defenders can aim at where you will obviously be. Small changes of direction cost you very little speed and make the angle-cut that you use on other people much harder to use on you.
Cut to open space when you do not have it. The pass-and-cut instinct from real basketball works here too. Standing still near the ball puts you in the crowd where nothing good happens; moving into empty space near the hoop means that when the ball comes loose — and it always comes loose — you are the one closest to it with a clear run.
