Assault Zone is a 3D first-person shooter with a simple, direct goal: invade territory the enemy has captured and shoot all the guards one by one. The developer's one piece of advice is to be quick, because guards who are given time will fire back.

On desktop you move with the arrow keys or W A S D and turn, aim and shoot with the mouse. On mobile there is an on-screen joystick, a fire button, and a drag area on the right side of the screen for aiming and turning. Either way, the game is about reaching each guard and dropping them before they can return fire.

Assault Zone strategy guide

Movement and aim are separate. Assault Zone is a first-person shooter where the keyboard, arrow keys or W A S D, moves you and the mouse turns, aims and shoots. Beginners often try to line up shots by walking, which is slow. Let your keys decide where you stand and the mouse decide where you look; treating them as independent is the biggest early improvement.

The objective is every guard. You are invading enemy-captured territory, and the mission is to shoot all the guards one by one. The developer's description mentions nothing to collect along the way, so keep your attention on finding the next guard and dealing with them.

Speed is the main rule. The developer's warning is short: be quick, otherwise the guards will fire back. Every second a guard spends looking at you is a second they can spend shooting. Find your target, put the crosshair on it and fire, rather than waiting for a perfect moment that gives them time to respond.

One at a time. Being quick does not mean running into the middle of everyone. The instruction to shoot the guards one by one is also good tactics: the fewer guards that can shoot at you at the same moment, the better your chances. Pick a guard, finish them, then move on to the next.

On mobile, split the jobs between your hands. The left thumb works the on-screen joystick to move, while the right side of the screen is for dragging to aim and turn, with a fire button to shoot. Keeping each thumb on its own job stops you from fumbling between moving and aiming when a guard comes into view.
